Mr Moulay Hafid ELALAMY, who was appointed by His Majesty the King Mohammed VI on 9 October 2019, Minister of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy, was born on 13 January 1960 in Marrakesh.

Holding a degree in Information Systems from the University of Sherbrooke, where he also served as Governor of the Faculty of Administration, Mr. Moulay Hafid ELALAMY began his professional career in Canada as a senior advisor to the Ministry of Finance of Quebec before occupying the position of Director of Information Systems at a Canadian insurance company.

On returning to Morocco, Mr Moulay Hafid ELALAMY joined the ONA Group where he occupied two senior positions: Secretary General of the group, and General Manager of the insurance subsidiary.

In 1995, he created his own company, which will become a key operator in the service industry (finance, insurance, assistance, consumer credit), and will acquire two of the largest Moroccan insurance companies and a pan-African insurance group.

He is also Vice President of the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies and a member of the investment committee of the Moroccan Inter-professional Pension Fund.

Mr. Moulay Hafid ELALAMY has launched two programmes to encourage business start-ups : the Sherpa club that actively participates in the development of long-term competitive and job-creating structures in Morocco, and the MHE Young Entrepreneurs competition which provides financial support and coaching for young project leaders in creating their companies.

A well-known figure in the Moroccan economic and social world, Mr. Moulay Hafid ELALAMY presided over the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises from 2006 to 2009.

Mr. Moulay Hafid ELALAMY is a member of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, and treasurer of the Lalla Salma Foundation, for the prevention and treatment of cancer.
